Howdy everyone!
The Galaxy Admin team is happy to announce that we’ll be upgrading both the BLAST+ tools and databases available on CPT Galaxy. The BLAST tools will be updated to version 2.9.0 and will make several features that the main NCBI site has available for use in Galaxy, such as filtering by Taxonomy ID and restricting the search to a given list of accession numbers. Along with this tool update, our BLAST databases will be upgraded to version 5 to allow for continued updates and so that the new tooling can be fully utilized.
This does mean our legacy tools will be removed and the old databases will be archived from active use. Please change any workflows that you have to the new tool options (Tagged “CPT Latest” under the CPT: Blast Analysis and Filtering section) by next Friday, November 22 2019.
As of November 22 2019, we will be removing the old BLAST tools from Galaxy, and cancelling any running jobs. Data from previously completed jobs will still be available and unchanged.
For more information about the new BLAST versions, please take a look at NCBI’s Insight article here.
