First authored by the former CPT student Yi Duan (from Herman Lab), the newest publication in Nature links cytolytic Enterococcus faecalis with more severe clinical outcomes and increased mortality in patients with alcoholic hepatitis, and demonstrates the therapeutic effects of phage targeting cytolytic E. faecalis in decreasing cytolysin in the liver and abolishing ethanol-induced liver disease in mice. Among the large multinational team, the CPT contributed to this work with phage characterization and result analysis.
