The first awarding of the Thomas L. Patterson Graduate Fellowship took place in the President’s Office at Texas A&M on Jan 14, 2019. The Fellowship was presented to Adriana Hernandez Morales, the CPT Ph.D. student who was heavily involved in the 2016 clinical intervention of the “Patterson case“. A peer-reviewed publication describing this case is published in Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (Oct 2017, Vol. 61, No. 10).
The Fellowship is personally funded by Dr. Strathdee and Dr. Patterson to encourage graduate-level research on phage at the CPT. The award ceremony was attended by Dr. Patterson, Dr. Strathdee, Texas A&M University President Michael Young, Vice Chancellor and Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dr. Patrick Stover, and other leadership members from the IPATH and the CPT.
